HOW-TO: Join Scouting Programs in America

Since my posts about the Orthodox Scouting awards available through the Assembly of Orthodox Bishops' E.O.C.S. (Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting) and P.R.A.Y. (Programs of Religious Activities with Youth) I have had many people asking how to sign their children up to be Scouts in the various Scouting programs that the EOCS is associated with. So much so, that I decided to make a blog post with links to all of them:

Boy-Only Single-Gender Programs

• Cub Scouts Packs (Kindergarten through 5th grade)
• Boy Scouts Troops (11-17 years old)
• Trail Life USA Troops (5-17 years old)

Co-Educational Programs

• Sea Scouts Ships (14-20 years old)
• Venturing Crews (14-20 years old)
• STEM Scouts Labs (3rd grade-12th grade)*
• Exploring Clubs (10-13 years old)
• Exploring Posts (14-20 years old)
• Varsity Scouts Teams (14-17 years old)
• Campfire Groups (5-17 years old)

Girl-Only Single-Gender Programs

• Girl Scouts Troops (Kindergarten through 12th Grade)
• American Heritage Girls Troops (5-18 years old) 

*STEM in STEM Scouts Labs stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. S.T.E.M. is part of all Scouting programs, but this program is exclusively focused on S.T.E.M. and S.T.E.M. alone.

UPDATE: Starting Autumn 2018, Cub Scouts Packs will have the option to be all-boy, all-girl, or co-ed. Dens will still be segregated by sex in co-ed Packs. In February 2019 the BSA will also be making a new Girl-Only Program exact equivalent to the Boy Scouts Program for 11-17 year old young women. Contrary to popular belief, the Boy Scouts program for young men 11-17 years old will not be co-ed. At this time Varsity Scouts will also cease to exist. Additionally, in 2018 the Varsity Scouts program will end and in 2019 STEM Scouts will go national to all BSA Councils.
